OHME MADE HISTORY

OHME MADE BOOKS
creating blueprints for a new reality
(or some such lofty goals, that seem silly to me now)

OHME MADE BOOKS was started in a small off grid cabin in the West Kootenays…the Slocan Valley…Winlaw to be exact. It was started by a 130 lb, 5'9" male, named BRETT DANIEL and furthered by the entity known as WILLIAM BROWN. Majority possession rights were afforded to WILLIAM BROWN, after a long squatting sequence of events. The novella "Chasing Rainbows" and the poetry collection "The Skeletal Remains" were created during this time.

With the local success of these two OHME MADE BOOKS WILLIAM BROWN became a Cult leader and hit the road to enlist some merry old souls. Open mike nights, spoken word events and a tour called "WILLIAM BROWN and his collection of unlike objects," brought forth many followers into the Cult...110 to be exact!

OHME MADE BOOKS had a manifesto, but BRETT DANIEL scrapped it when he took back possession of his mind…"it all sounded pretentious and anarchist"…he did however take one part of the manifesto…

#5: ohme made books have speling mistackes and grammatical. errors…we like it this way, we live it this way!

HALLELUJAH!!!

BRETT DANIEL kept that particular part of the manifesto because when he was a young flesh eating disease, he read some unedited F Scott Fitzgerald, and was delighted to find it contained numerous spelling and grammatical errors. It pleased his receding hair line to no end. You see, he was inspired by those errors and also liked the feeling of seeing his own mistakes in his writings and not changing them…"I'm a real person that makes mistakes in my life all the time, why can't my writings be like that too?!"

"Indeed," as WILLY BEE was fond of saying.

Truth bee told, BRETT DANIEL and WILLIAM BROWN, got along really well during this time of occupation in the Kootenays. They agreed that they wanted their books written simply…almost kid like…to appeal to innocence, to fun. I mean, he/they chased rainbows for a living and wanted their stories and poems to reflect that.

WILLIAM BROWN wrote many stories and poems inside BRETT DANIEL’S head. The stories included…Chasing Rainbows, Sunshine Kid Detective Agency, Savage Hollow, Daddy Daughter Day and Revenge of the Freak.

Some of the poetry books included…the Skeletal Remains, Scratching Peace Symbols on your Tombstone, Society for the Empowerment of Black Rainbows, I Love Cults, Things that Glow in the Dark, the Tetris Affair and Revenge of the Poem.

OHME MADE BOOKS was also happy to publish SPARROW’S post apocalypse fantasy novella "Phoenix Mm" and a book of poetry form Charles Chalmers called "Further Ash".

It was a busy time for WILLIAM BROWN and OHME MADE BOOKS…but would it last?

Indeed, it did not…for soon after a move to Vancouver Island WILLY BEE and BRETTLY PETTLY had a falling out and began a two year battle for the soul, with BRETT DANIEL finally coming out on top and enjoying the peace and quiet of being a single occupant once again.

Having just finished a fictional stories of that battle for the mind called Revenge of the Freak, he will shortly begin work on his new story called "CAMPHILL: 9 1/2 months in a Camphill Community" from his new hermitage on Salt Spring Island.

Sometimes I get lost in the Johnny Depps of my mind.
